Coach Lesko – Founder of Break-Thru Lacrosse, Director of Charleston for Break-Thru, and Head Coach of Bishop England Boys Varsity Lacrosse After three successful years at Hilton Head Island HS, Lesko took over as Head Coach at Bishop England in 2023. In his first three seasons with the Bishops, he has guided the team to a 33–17 record, including two State Quarterfinal and one State Semifinal appearances. Under his leadership, 19 players have earned all-state or lower-state honors, with one player achieving All-American status, and he was recognized as the 4A Lower-State Coach of the Year in 2023.
A native of New Canaan, CT, Coach Lesko attended Deerfield Academy where, playing under Chip Davis, he was named Midfielder of the Year, an All-American, and a two-time First Team All-New England selection. He helped his team compile a 60–3 record and capture Four consecutive New England Prep School Championships. Additionally, Lesko excelled in varsity football and hockey—serving as captain for both sports—and received Deerfield’s prestigious Jim Smith Award, which is given to the school's Most Outstanding Male Scholar Athlete.
Ranked the #7 Overall Recruit nationally by Inside Lacrosse, he was sought out by Bill Tierney to play at Princeton University. At Princeton, he was a four-year starter at both offensive and defensive midfield, contributing to two NCAA tournament quarterfinal appearances and two Ivy League Championships. His senior year was honored with the prestigious Higginbotham Trophy for outstanding play, sportsmanship, and leadership. Transitioning into coaching in 2010 with True Lacrosse in Illinois, Coach Lesko later honed his craft in New York with part-time roles at St. Luke’s High School, Eclipse Lacrosse Club, and New Canaan Youth Lacrosse. After relocating to South Carolina in 2019, he became involved with Mount Pleasant Rec and various club programs before accepting the Head Coaching position at Hilton Head Island High School in 2020 and founding Break-Thru Lacrosse. Coach Lesko currently resides on Daniel Island with his wife, Jessica, and their children, JJ and Piper.
Nicolas Cruz Role: Defensive Coordinator (Bishop England HS Varsity) Assistant Coach ( BTL 2030/2031 and HS Teams) - Originally from Tennessee, Nicolas played both lacrosse and football at Pope John Paul II. As a senior, he earned First Team All-State and First Team All-Division LSM honors, served as team captain, and was recruited to play at Division I Furman University. A recent graduate of Charleston School of Law and a soon-to-be bar examinee, Coach Cruz brings legal expertise and multilingual fluency to the BTL staff. His ambition is to merge his law background with his passion for sports, setting the stage for a future in sports agency.
Dom Hafner Role: Assistant Coach, Bishop England Varsity (Former Head JV Coach – 2025, 9–2 Record) - Originally from Leesburg, VA, Dom was a four-year starter at Loudoun High School, where he played as an LSM and participated with both the Madlax and Nova West clubs. In high school, he was selected for the Virginia Brine National Team (summer 2016). Dom played two years of men’s lacrosse at Guilford College (Division III, 2017–2019) and later managed and competed with Radford University’s men’s club team (2020–2022). He earned his Master’s degree in Business at Marymount University, benefiting from COVID eligibility to extend his collegiate playing career. Starting his coaching journey with True Nova in 2023, Dom now balances his role on the coaching staff with a career in tech sales while living on Daniel Island.
Graham Kelly Role: Defensive Coordinator, BTL HS Team, Sacred Heart Division I Varsity (Defense) - Graham began his high school lacrosse career at Bishop England before transferring to Avon Old Farms for his junior and senior years. He further honed his skills playing club lacrosse with Break-Thru and True National. Currently a key defensive player for Sacred Heart’s Division I varsity team, Coach Kelly has also played an instrumental role over the past three summers in enhancing defensive strategies and now leads as the defensive coordinator for BTL's high school team.
